Workplace Wellness : A Call for an Efficient Workforce & Growing Organization

Modern day work culture, where an urge to achieve and excel demands employees to spend more and more quality time towards their organizations, contributing to the overall growth and prosperity of the organization, To effect this, organizations must ensure workplace wellness of their most valuable resource. Workplace wellness is a noble approach that primarily takes in to consideration three broad aspects, namely Employee Safety, Lifestyle Welfare Programs and Work Environment Enrichment. While safety is a prime concern in organizations dealing with heavy equipment and machine, the later are common to any kind of organization.
Knowingly or sometimes unknowingly, most of the times we invite serious and damaging health threats that need equally serious attention to take care of. Most of the time, it is the odd working hours, wrong sitting posture or improper diet (or all of them), which causes small disorders initially that grow in to serious health issues. Workplace Wellness pledges to raise awareness, education and knowledge both among the employees and the employers how to effectively deal with these everyday irregularities in workplaces. It has been observed very often, in case of new recruits that work related stress cause very severe sleep related disorders, putting significant pressure on their other day-to-day activities. Workplace Stress is some times good and necessary to explore someone’s hidden potentials, innovate new approaches to deal with difficult situations and organizational stress management should be promptly mastered. To effectively implement workplace wellness, it may also require a complete make over at the workplaces such as, restructuring the organizational policy, practice of revitalizing health practices, adopting more active life styles and giving up serious health deteriorating practices such as smoking and drinking etc.
it is very prevalent and obvious that employees who are happy and satisfy with their career account for more productivity and profitability and contribute efficaciously to strong decision making and maintaining a healthy work environment inside the organization. They also openly communicate, provide support to balance work and home life, and can manage time and resources efficiently. Ensuring workplace wellness has proved to be a successful business strategy for most of the organizations that wish to attracts and retain good and efficient human capital with them.
Such practices empower the employees and they ultimately deliver the best result and an empowered employee is also stress free and motivated. Workplace wellness ensures five vital components such as camaraderie, credibility, fairness, pride and respect that works well on the attitudinal level of the individual, building an ideal workplace culture and making their job interesting and the organization a perfect place to work.
