During summer many people start considering the best way to get that sun-bronzed glow. There are many options that you can choose from tanning salons, a stretch in the sun, or a combination of these.
Tanning can be acquired from hours of lazing in the sun, on some beach or under a tan bed in the neighboring sun salon.
Tanning occurs when we sit under the sun or tan bed and the body’ starts producing the darkening pigment known as melanin. Melanin absorbs the UV rays and so protects the skin from sun damage. Actually a tan is an innate mechanism of the human body to safeguard itself against the detrimental UV rays of the sun. When we stay outside exposed to the suns rays for long periods of time, the body acquires a dark color, generally referred to as a tan.
In very fair people, the skin produces very little quantity of melanin. Hence, it gets scorched instead of getting tanned, when exposed to sun. It’s definitely a better idea if they opt for tanning salons who provide tanning with safety.
Tanning is not just good for acquiring an alluring look, but is also a great source of Vitamin D. Sun exposure in judicious amount is essential to the body as it helps in the development of Vitamin D also known as the sunshine vitamin. In truth, sunshine is absolutely essential for the formation of Vitamin D. If this vitamin is not created, the absorption of calcium is hindered which in turn leads to bone disorders.
So go ahead tan yourself, but here is a bit of advice before you leave the house. Sensible sun tanning can in fact reduce the risk of skin cancer and other associated diseases like osteoporosis. But keep in mind; this applies for modest sun exposure. UV rays, whether they come from the sun or a tanning bed are damaging. You need to keep a lookout on the level and duration of exposure.
