Each one of us complain of a headache at least once a week. The percentage of people having headaches is increasing with time. Life is becoming competitive due to which we don’t get time to relax and rest and need to be on our toes all the time.
Headache is a pain in the head or upper neck. It sees no age barriers it may happen to children, adults or old aged people. The hectic and busy life styles are one of the major causes of minor headaches.
The common causes of headaches are:
• Tension or stress
• Eye strain or poor sight
• Dehydration
• Migraine
• Sinusitis
• Exposure to cold temperatures
• Low blood sugar
• A hangover
• Nutritional deficiency
Headaches may also be due to due to meningitis, encephalitis, cerebral aneurysms and brain tumors.
Natural remedies to cure headaches:
• Take clove, cinnamon and almond in equal quantities (around 1 teaspoon each) and grind together with a little water to make a paste. Apply paste on the forehead.
• For stress related headache press on the right side top corner of the forehead on the hairline. Keep it lightly pressed for two minutes. It’s advisable not to press very hard.
• The juice of three or four slices of lemon should be squeezed in a cup of tea and taken by the patient for treating a headache due to a hangover.
• Mix a quarter teaspoon of clove powder in one teaspoon of cinnamon oil. Apply mixture to the location of pain.
• Mix 1 tablespoon of milk and half teaspoon of ginger powder and put one or two drops in each nostril twice a day.
• The best way to prevent headaches is to build up physical resistance through proper nutrition. It’s advisable to exercise regularly to stay fit and healthy.
• Eating a ripe apple with little salt in morning on an empty stomach continuously for a week will help you get rid of chronic headaches.
• Oil massage on the scalp also relieves tension and headache. Sesame oil, almond oil, mustard oil can be used for massage.
You can feel much better by making lifestyle changes and learning ways to relax instead of being dependent on pain killers. Repeated usage of pain killers is not recommended. If you witness regular headaches it may be a symptom of other medical conditions. In such a case you should consult your doctor.
