Comments Ayurvedic Treatment for Ama
Coating of the tongue is a systemic concern rather than a local process just affecting the mouth. An immuno-suppressed, a whitish coating is an evidence of infections such as thrush, caused is due to the fungus, Candida albicans.
Candida produces problems when the immune system is weakened. Thrush is diagnosed when the white patches appears on the tongue causing bleeding from the underlying red tissue. In such a case, approaching a family physician or dermatologist to make a precise diagnosis and receive specific therapy is advised.
A coated tongue reflects the weakness of your digestive power, which according to Ayurveda, the Indian medical science, is an expression of ama, the Sanskrit word for “undigested residue.” It is a manifestation of the accumulation of toxins in the physiology which are caused due to the consumption of toxic foods and substances, emotional stress, recent surgery, chemotherapy or antibiotic treatment.
Ama has both physical and emotional components, accumulated in the body due to mental and emotional toxicity including hostility, resentment, jealousy and regret. Toxins get stored in our mind body system trough relationships and work environment. The ama can be reduced by addressing the various components comprising a human being. By eliminate tobacco and other recreational substances and reducing the alcohol and caffeine in your life, you can eliminate ama to a big extend.
By simplifying the diet to only easy-to-digest foods like rice, cooked vegetables and dahl soups made from mung beans, you can control ama. Spicy herbs like ginger, basil, thyme, sage and cardamom, can reduce ama to a big extend. Fasting for one day per week consuming only fresh fruit and vegetable juices is another nice option to cut down ama. Sluggish bowels are another symptom of accumulated ama, for which Ayurvedic formula known as Triphala can act bringing out better results. Clean the tongue while brushing the teeth to remove the toxic contents and maintain it clean and neat.
