Before we read any further, it is important to know about migraine so that all of us can be on the same knowledge platform.
Migraine is a neurological syndrome that is characterized by altered bodily perceptions, nausea, and severe headaches. Physiologically, the migraine headache is a neurological condition more prevalent in women than men. Migraine headache, typically, is unilateral and pulsating and lasts for 4-72 hours. The health complication is triggered by various factors such as skipping meals, alcohol, smoking, allergic reactions, sleep disturbances, loud noises, menstrual cycle irregularities, long exposures to light from computer screen, video screens, and television.
Eye strain is one the biggest triggers of migraines and advice of optometrist or ophthalmologist to keep yourself updated for your eyeglasses or contact lenses is a good idea. Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction is another cause of migraine headache but this is treatable with stretching and massage, applying heat or cold, anti-inflammatory medications, and stress management techniques. Biofeedback is another treatment option for migraine and can be sought from hospitals, medical centers, and clinics. Transcranial magnetic stimulation, popularly known as TMS, is also effective for reducing the symptoms of migraine to a considerable extent.
It is, however, always recommended that you seek the advice of a qualified medical practitioner before trying any of these migraine treatment options so that you don’t end up harming yourself in attempt to make things good.
