Lupus: Efforts to Curb it Shows Positive Signs

Lupus is a health issue that has been in the list of concern of the world medical organizations for a long time. But the outlook for people affected with lupus has improved as better treatments have been found. As per the latest reports, nearly 70% of people with lupus live 20 years or more after they are diagnosed with the condition.
The course of lupus does vary from individual to individual and is hard to predict as the symptoms of this disease come and go. Lupus generally takes develops slowly that a person may not notice the symptoms for a long time.
Periods of time of lupus symptoms are called flares or relapses and the periods of time when the symptoms get better are called remissions. Lupus develops and progresses rapidly and the flares and remissions occur abruptly, unexpectedly, and without clear cause. It is impossible to predict the timing of a flare and how bad it will be. It is even hard to say, how long it will last.
It is generally seen that teens have a more chance of getting affected by lupus, but of courses children can also get affected by lupus. Lupus in children could be more severe than in adults when vital organs, such as the kidneys and heart, are involved. Thanks to the age-related differences in the disease.
People with lupus may face a complicated lifestyle due to the fatigue, joint pain, and decreased aerobic capacity caused by the disease. There are chances of lupus developing complications such as birth control, pregnancy issues, kidney problems and heart problems.
Most people with lupus can lead a normal or near-normal life span, but depending on the severity of the disease is. Lupus does not result in joint damage, crippling, or deformity.
In the past, lupus was not well understood, causing a large number of deaths due to the problems with vital organs. But now, with advanced medical science have ensured that more than 90% of people with lupus live at least 5 years after diagnosis.
