HERNIA

A hernia is an opening or weakness in the muscular structure of the wall of the abdomen. It occurs when the contents of a body cavity bulge out of the area where they are normally contained. Due to this defect the abdominal wall bulges.
Activities that increase intra-abdominal pressure can worsen a hernia; like lifting, coughing, or even straining to have a bowel movement. The most common location for hernia to happen is the abdomen. Though a hernia can be located anywhere in the abdominal area, the majority of hernias are located near the groin area. You can get a hernia on one side of your groin or on both sides. You’re more likely to get a hernia on the right side of your body.
Symptoms of hernia may be different in different types of hernia:
• Bulge or swelling in the groin which may inflate when you cough ,bend, lift or strain.
• You may feel pain in the groin.
• Nausea and/or Vomiting.
• Your groin may feel uncomfortable and tender.
• Constipation is another common symptom of hernia.
• Urinary Symptoms.
• Sometimes you may also witness a burning feeling in your groin.
• Difficulties in swallowing.
• Chest pain.
Few home remedies to treat hernia:
• An ice bag will help you get rid of the pain.
• Don’t over exhaust yourself if you are a patient of hernia.
• Avoid junk and spicy food.
• Avoid smoking and drinking alcohol.
• Follow a diet rich in fiber.
• Reduce your food intake. Try and eat easily digestible food.
• Drink 1/4 cup of Aloe Vera juice in the morning and again at night. This is also very effective home remedy for hernia.
• Ensure that the time gap between your meals and bed time is at least two hours.
• Drink water after you eat.
• Increase the intake of fluids to reduce constipation.
The above mentioned remedies might help you to a certain extent to get relief from hernia. If your bulge is very painful to touch and you have chronic pain in your groin, it’s advisable to visit the doctor as fast as possible.Never take hernia easily it might become severe over time and be very painful.
