Blood pressure is the force of the blood against the artery walls. High blood pressure and low blood pressure can both cause cardiovascular problems. It is indicative of the fact that there is high pressure on the arteries.
High blood pressure is a major risk factor for stroke, heart attack, heart failure and kidney failure, impaired vision and other health problems. It may also lead to Peripheral arterial disease and Outpouchings of the aorta called aneurysms. These days most people are victims of high blood pressure. It has become a common disease. Normal blood pressure is below
120/80 anything above this is considered to be high. Most of the time we are not aware of the causes of high blood pressure. There are also certain cases when people don’t even know that they are suffering from a disease called high blood pressure.
Causes of high blood pressure
• Kidney abnormality or chronic kidney disease
• A structural abnormality of the aorta
• Narrowing of certain arteries
• Tumors or other diseases of the adrenal gland
• Pregnancy
• Genetic factors
• Use of birth control pills
• Alcohol addiction
• Thyroid dysfunction
• Obesity
• Lifestyle
• Eating large amounts of sodium
Symptoms of high blood pressure:
• Headache
• Dizziness
• Shortness of breath
• Blurred vision.
It’s always good to have symptoms because until and unless people have them they do not rush to the doctor and tend to take there health easily.
Remedies for high blood pressure:
• Garlic is one of the effective means of lowering blood pressure. It also slows down the pulse rate and modifies the heart beat.
• Lemon is also regarded as a valuable food to control high blood pressure.
• Having a mixture of 1 tsp honey with 1 tsp ginger juice and 1 tsp cumin powder twice a day can also be an effective way of keeping blood pressure under control.
• Parsley is very useful in high blood pressure. It helps in maintaining the blood vessels.
• Grapefruit is also considered effective in preventive high blood pressure.
• Add more of leafy green vegetables and milk in your diet, these prevent high blood pressure.
• If you are a non-vegetarian increase intake of fish this will help you keep your blood pressure levels normal.
